“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.” ~Acts 20:24 (NIV)
This was my verse today from Bible Gateway. As I opened my email to read it, I was suddenly hit with a wave of emotions. Now, I’m not sure if it’s because I now have a brother in the service (AF) and a cousin about to ship out or what, but it dawned on me…our military are not the only ones who sacrifice.
As Christians we are called to give of our lives sacrificially – for Christ!! Now, don’t get me wrong, I am a faithful, loving American that is grateful for what our military men and women have done for our freedom. But, I can’t help imagine how different our Nation and WORLD would be if we had more Christians who fought valiantly for Christ daily.
As a Christian, one is called to “…deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow [Jesus].” Luke 9:22-24 (ESV) That is essentially what our soldiers have done. They deny themselves to the government and go at all costs. Why then should we be any different or any less zealous. If anything, we should be MORE zealous for our ONE TRUE SAVIOR, Jesus Christ!!
So, this Memorial Day weekend I ask you not only to remember those who have fought hard in war on our behalf, so that we here in the United States of America can remain free; but I also ask you to remember those men and women of Christ who have given their lives to spread the gospel to this lost world. Remember those who continue to fight their way into countries to share the LIGHT in a dark, dark world. Remember THE ONE who gave HIS ALL for you and for me!
Happy Memorial Day Weekend!!!
Blessings to you,
Annette
